Preparing for engineering competitive exams can be challenging and not having the right resources could turn the challenge into a struggle. Here’s a recommendation of the Top 5 books that’ll help you do better when preparing for the same.

1. Your 11th and 12th NCERT textbooks

We totally know that you wouldn’t have expected this to be the first one on the list. Tbh tho, NCERT textbooks are way more important than any other reference books or guides. The reason being that these build up your base. Most of the syllabus for JEE consists of questions that are based on the questions in these textbooks. We’d suggest hopping on to the advanced ones(the ones that are mentioned below) only when you’re thoroughly done with these two. So to have a strong foundation of the topics that you plan to study, consider these as Must-haves on your list.

2. Concept of Physical Chemistry by P. Bahadur

So your dream of getting your desired college is probably close if you’ve completed the questions in this book bec it’ll honestly take a lot of time(seeing the number of questions in this book). This book has every single type of numerical that’ll make you a physical chemistry wizard once you’re done solving all of them. It covers every single topic thoroughly and has several mock papers for you to practice. So you could refer to your NCERT textbooks for the theory and then start with this book that would help you get your physical chemistry concepts straight, by giving you a wide variety of HOTS or application-oriented questions.

3. O.P Tandon Inorganic Chemistry

Now we’re pretty sure the name says it all. “OP” Tandon is the “OG” of chemistry

(OP=OG *laughs*). The best part, this book gets revised and updated with all the newest trends, questions that are important for competitive exams. They have given comprehensive explanations in a layman language that makes the foundations of concepts stronger. It includes a lot of multiple-choice questions and their descriptive answers, make a difficult question easier to understand.

4. O.P Tandon Organic Chemistry

As said above, the “OG” of chemistry wouldn’t fail to impress you with organic chemistry too. Similarly, this book is also updated and revised with all the newest trends, questions, etc. Topics have been explained comprehensively. There are 3 types of questions mainly: MCQs, Matching types, and Assertion reason types. This book till date remains the best one that students use for their organic chemistry preparations.

So to conclude, there are a lot of books that would help you prep for such exams, but these are the ones that cover almost every single concept that exists and they offer you a wide variety of questions that would help you apply those concepts to different problems. You could also use books by some authors like J.D Lee(inorganic chem), P.W Atkins( physical chem), or Peter Sykes( organic chem). But, we’d suggest using them only when you’re done with the above-mentioned ones.

Hope this blog gave you a headstart for the books that you should go for. If yes, please give us a high-five in the comments!!
