Are you preparing for a competitive exam and unsure whether to choose coaching or independent study?

The majority of applicants are experiencing the same problem, therefore you are not alone.

Some of them want to study alone but need proper guidance, while others want to join coaching centres but are unsure if the teacher will be able to pay attention to each of them. Some of them do not have enough money to cover the costs of coaching classes, and others lack motivation.

Before we more ahead, we would like you to know about our other blog posts and our discord server, where you can interact with like minded people.

To help you understand, let’s look at some key topics, including the benefits and drawbacks of coaching and self-study.

Self Study

Convenient for the pocket : Self-study is your best alternative if you come from a middle-class or low-income family and cannot pay or cannot fit into your budget for expensive coaching classes. You won’t have to pay anything for it. You can put money aside and use it to buy some helpful books.

No fear of criticism : There aren’t many students that are naturally shy and reticent. Such pupils struggle to connect with others and don’t feel at ease in large groups; as a result, they repress their emotions out of a fear of being judged.

Time-saving option : Time should be used as effectively as possible because it is the most valuable resource in human life. Self-studying could spare you the extra hours you squander getting to your coaching centre and in pointless conversations with your friends if you are the type of person who finds it important to fully utilise the time without sharing it with or scarifying it for someone else.

You’re the Boss : There’s no one who is controlling your time, you’re the real boss here. If you’re someone who likes to study at night or early morning, it really doesn’t matter.

Coaching

Proper guidance: The advantage of taking coaching classes is that a knowledgeable tutor will always be available to correct you when necessary. You will get the instruction and strategy you need from coaching sessions to pass an exam. It would truly be beneficial for the student if they knew the precise format and difficulty level of the questions.

Peer support : You will meet more motivated and like-minded students like you with whom you could seek out the different ways/methods to solve a particular problem.

Mental Preparation : In addition to your study, taking practice exams and unexpected examinations will help you prepare mentally for an impending exam. Additionally, those examinations will follow the same format as your next exam, which will put you more at ease when taking the real thing.

As a final point, it is important to realise that coaching and independent study are not the primary determinants of exam performance. You should experiment with both approaches before deciding which one best matches your needs.

You may have observed students who studied alone and received good exam results, as well as students who attended coaching sessions but received poor results, or vice versa.

Every kid learns at their own rate, so you can’t force them to take coaching lessons or do their own studying if they don’t want to. Plus, with Coaching, it might get a little difficult to cope up with two different things at the same time, because the things going in your school and coaching are never the same, sometimes it lags or you’re ahead. Which doesn’t make any point both ways.

The only problem left with self study is, Who will clear your doubts?
