Notes: A Student Saver!
Just the other day, I was having a conversation with my friend. We have finals approaching in a few weeks. So obviously, we both lied to each other, that we have not studied, but that is to be discussed for another day.
However, there is one thing worth sharing regarding our conversation. Study wise my friend is fine, understands the concepts, but ends up forgetting them just before the exam.
The fact is that he can do better, he is just unable to. To this, my response was to start making notes, to which he completely disagreed. His question was why should I take notes?
Today, let us try and possibly give a comprehensive answer to this question, as we feel that making notes is a very under-rated trick to score better than others.
Once you are done with this, go ahead and pick up a few note-making hacks, to save your skin at the last minute.
What Are Notes?
See, notes are not just any random words that you write on a piece of paper or type on your system. It is a collection of useful information regarding a concept taught to you, which you can later use as a reference for recollection of the same.
When you have to revise that topic, all you can do is refer to your notes. What it does is save your time and energy, while refreshing your memory about what was taught.
See when we learn something new, our brain tries to retain as much as possible. But it cannot remember all in one go. So it becomes important for you to note things down.
Now, the process can be boring but you are the ones who can make it interesting. Here are a few tips to do so.
How to make it interesting?
Notes are made the best when they are penned down. So, ensure that your notebook has enough blank pages and it is well organized. Also, the pen with which you write has an impact.
Choose the pen with which you enjoy writing. It is also important that you know what is to be written and what is not. If sitting in a class, pay attention to the professor or the teacher teaching.
When you hear, (this is important) or (note it down), that is your sign to take notes. Try and be as creative with your notes. Use stuff like flashcards or small sticky notes to make them on the go.
Keep these tricks in mind and make the notes as interesting as possible so that you feel like going back to them for reference.
Notes Before Exams
The best time to make notes are before the exam. It is just like completing your assignment before the day of the deadline.
The point here is that making notes at this time is the most beneficial for you. As it is the time when you will be requiring them the most. With exams over your head, no one would have to pressure you.
Your mindset will change itself when there would be no other way but to study. But you can either be afraid of this fact or use it to your advantage.
We feel it is always correct to go for the better option. So use it for your gain. You as it has to give the exam, so might as well give them well.
You can trust us when we say, that if you make crisp notes, they will be much more helpful than calling up your friend and asking for their scraps.
Just a Reminder
Hope, whatever is written above clears out the confusion of not making notes? See, the whole point of making notes is when you can use them as a reference any time of the day.
