We no longer have the ability to turn off in this highly linked society. The problems are made worse by long work weeks. The National Sample Sample Survey Office (NSSO) reports that Indian city workers put in some of the world’s longest workweeks — nearly 54 hours!

This gives you even more justification to unplug and unwind on the weekend. Productivity is increased when you take a 48-hour mental vacation after Friday night work. It facilitates productive work during the week. In summary, relaxing well on the weekend helps you reclaim your life. Here are five suggestions for maximizing your weekends and overall well being.

Use the week to make an investment in your social health.

The weekend is a time for some people to relax and unwind. Others don’t appear to be able to slow down. For those people, the week at work is hectic, and the weekend is much busier. Though being busy can be beneficial, sometimes you just need to unwind.

Invest in your social health: Make the most of the weekend to improve your bonds with loved ones. Numerous studies over the years have demonstrated that meaningful, face-to-face interactions not only lower stress levels but also maintain a positive outlook, hasten the healing process after sickness, and maintain good cardiovascular health. Even more justification for scheduling a quick family vacation.

Pursue a passion: Make the most of the weekend to improve your bonds with loved ones. Even more justification for scheduling a quick family vacation.

Embrace digital minimalism: Our productivity suffers from the abundance of screens around us. Technology has immense potential as a tool to improve the quality of our lives, but addiction to screens is detracting from its worth. According to a Pew Research Center research from 2018, at least 26% of respondents reported going online “nearly continuously.” Constantly checking your phone interferes with in-person encounters and prevents you from really living your life.

Indulge in some me-time: You need some downtime at the end of the week to help you recharge. Book a spa appointment and have your back’s knots worked out. Learn to paint or enroll in a cooking class to become a master chef. Have a leisurely breakfast without the TV on full blast, or take a lengthy walk in the outdoors. You may begin with one if Bill Gates has time to read 50 books! You should indulge your senses and your soul during the weekend so that you may look forward to a busy work week.

Switching off on the weekend can have a positive impact on your life.
