You can’t imagine not having a cell phone, and thankfully, you rarely have to. Digital addiction, however, may not always be the best behavior. According to a study, teens who use smartphones frequently are substantially more likely to experience sadness, anxiety, and insomnia. Young individuals who are addicted to cell phones and the internet have an imbalanced brain chemistry, according to researchers at Korea University in South Korea.

However , this is funny but to some extent it’s true .Modern life and their associated devices such as Mobile , Computers & Microwave added valuable and fundamental changes into our life by making it as easy as it is now , but in turn it affects us negatively.

But with great power comes great responsibility, and researchers are beginning to discover that gazing at our phones for long periods of time can really be detrimental to our physical, social, mental, and intellectual health. It turns out that tech addiction exists, and there are a few key reasons why you might want to temporarily put your phone away.

It could make you feel depressed

Regular use of social media has been linked in studies to depression, and cellphones make it simple to overdose. According to Debra Kissen, Ph.D., clinical director of the Light on Anxiety Treatment Center in Chicago, “being surrounded by images of everyone seeming happy and successful leads to harmful and erroneous comparisons and lowered emotions of self-worth.”

It triggers FOMO

You can access all the interesting things that other people are doing thanks to your gadget (besides using their phones to share the fun). It’s practically a trigger because witnessing all of this awesomeness can make you feel envious (and awful about spending Saturday night in your pajamas). The power to filter every aspect of daily life and put the best portions in your palm is provided by phones. All of this adds up to a never-ending stream of unreachable reality that makes you feel guilty for leading an unfiltered existence.

It can deteriorate your spine.

The force of tilting your head forward to view your gadget was measured in a 2014 Neuro and Spine Surgery study, which indicated that a 60-degree tilt forward (a very common motion) makes your head, which weighs 10 to 12 pounds in neutral position, feel like it weighs roughly 50 pounds more. This overstressed your spine by thousands of pounds over time, causing the spinal discs to degenerate. If corrective surgery is required, the damage could result in significant medical expenses in addition to prolonged pain.

Researchers were able to learn in-depth information about the teenage brains of smartphone and internet addicts using magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS). A specific kind of MRI called MRS analyses the chemical makeup of the brain.

19 adolescents with internet or smartphone addiction were partnered with healthy individuals for the study, which was presented at the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA).

As part of the study, twelve of the addicted children underwent nine weeks of cognitive behavioral therapy that was modified from a cognitive therapy program for gaming addiction. To gauge the extent of internet addiction, the researchers employed standardized tests for smartphone and internet addiction.
